Senior Research Associate I-EDA


The University of Southern Maine’s Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) is seeking applicants to fill the full-time position of Senior Research Associate. Working under the direction of the Center Director, the grant-funded Senior Research Associate/Project Director is responsible for the conduct of research and planning tasks related to the Center’s work plan. CBER conducts research, analysis, and provides technical assistance to businesses, local and regional governments, and nonprofit organizations engaged in economic development, focused primarily in Maine.  CBER receives funding as a University Center (UC) under the US Economic Development Administration (EDA) and through a variety of other federal, state, and local grants, funding streams, and sponsored projects. This particular position will primarily be funded through CARES Act funding and support the Center’s response and recovery efforts to COVID-19. Major responsibilities of this position include management of research and technical assistance projects from start to completion, conducting research and providing technical assistance using appropriate analytical methods and tools, and providing general expertise to the internal and external community.  The Senior Research Associate/Project Director assists the Director in representing the Center in meetings with external partners and clients and in the preparation of work products, including written reports, presentations, webinars, and other media, and preparation and response to funding proposals.  The Senior Research Associate/Project Director is the principal supervisor of assigned research staff and graduate assistants assigned to the Center, and monitors expenditures and revenues in cooperation with the Research Service Center at USM.
